Trump Orders Release of JFK, RFK, and MLK Assassination Files, Ending Decades of Secrecy
In a bold move, President Donald J. Trump has signed an executive order to declassify key records concerning the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This landmark decision comes after decades of secrecy surrounding the deaths of these pivotal figures in American history, with the American public long clamoring for the truth.
The executive order directs the Director of National Intelligence and other relevant officials to take immediate action. In particular, they are required to present a plan for the full release of all documents related to JFK’s assassination within just 15 days. Additionally, the files related to the assassinations of RFK and Dr. King must be reviewed and made public within 45 days. This order reflects Trump’s commitment to transparency, acknowledging that the families of the victims and the American people have waited far too long for this information.

This is not the first time Trump has sought to open the door to these classified records. In his first term, he ordered steps toward the disclosure of JFK assassination documents. However, concerns over national security delayed the release of certain files. Now, with his second term underway, Trump has pushed for full disclosure, asserting that the public interest outweighs any remaining security concerns. He strongly believes that after more than 60 years, the American people have a right to know the truth.
The JFK assassination has been the subject of intense speculation and conspiracy theories for decades. While the official narrative holds that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, many Americans continue to question this version of events. The release of these documents could provide new insights or, at the very least, put to rest some of the most persistent questions. Some experts suggest that while no earth-shattering revelations are expected, there could still be new findings that shed light on the events surrounding the assassination.
In addition to the JFK files, the order also covers the assassinations of his brother, Robert F. Kennedy, in 1968, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in 1968 as well. Both of these tragic events have also been marred by doubts about the official accounts, and the release of these files could offer more clarity.
Trump’s decision is seen as a fulfillment of a promise he made during his 2024 re-election campaign, where he vowed to declassify all remaining assassination-related documents. The public's interest in these documents remains strong, and many hope that the declassification will finally reveal the full truth behind these pivotal moments in American history. As President Trump takes this significant step, it marks the end of more than six decades of secrecy, and a new chapter in the quest for transparency regarding these tragic events.
