Delray Beach Man Arrested for Striking His Elderly Mother at Bus Stop
This is a troubling story coming out of Delray Beach, Florida. A man has been arrested for allegedly attacking his disabled elderly mother at a bus stop, an incident that was caught on surveillance footage. Authorities say Jason Ronzka was seen yelling at his mother, who was in a wheelchair, before striking her.
Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) were on patrol when they witnessed the disturbing scene. According to reports, Ronzka’s mother, who suffers from ALS and possibly dementia, was mostly nonverbal. Officers noticed multiple bleeding scabs on her left arm, prompting them to intervene. When they reviewed nearby surveillance footage, it reportedly showed Ronzka grabbing and pulling her arm and even striking her on the forehead with an open hand.

Emergency responders from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue transported the elderly woman to Delray Medical Center for medical attention. Meanwhile, Ronzka was detained and questioned by deputies. He allegedly told officers that his mother “wouldn’t listen” and “wouldn’t stop her wheelchair,” and that was his justification for physically stopping her.
After reviewing all the evidence, authorities arrested Ronzka on a felony charge of battery on a person 65 years or older. He was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail, where he now faces serious legal consequences.
