Fire Erupts at London's Iconic Chiltern Firehouse, Dozens Evacuated
A dramatic scene unfolded in central London today as a fire broke out at the luxurious Chiltern Firehouse, forcing the evacuation of around 100 people. This celebrity-favorite hotel and restaurant, located in Marylebone, saw thick smoke billowing from its roof as over 125 firefighters battled the blaze.
The fire, which started around 2:50 PM, was traced to ducting that runs from the ground floor to the roof. A plant room at roof level also caught fire, adding to the intensity of the situation. Emergency services, including 20 fire engines, quickly arrived from various stations across London, including Euston, Soho, Paddington, Kensington, and Chelsea.

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic moment when the fire erupted. Guy Fischman, who was walking near Bond Street, said he saw an "orange glow" through a hotel window and "embers floating in the air." He described the street as filled with thick smoke, making visibility poor and leaving a lingering smell of burning material.
Chiltern Firehouse has long been a hotspot for A-listers, hosting celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga, Tom Cruise, and Johnny Depp. It occupies a historic 19th-century fire station and has been the venue for exclusive events, including Kylie Minogue's 50th birthday party. The fire comes just two days before the hotel was set to host a Netflix BAFTA after-party, an event likely to attract Hollywood’s biggest names.
Despite the dramatic scenes, there have been no reports of injuries so far. Firefighters worked tirelessly, using aerial platforms to spray water onto the flames. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and an investigation is underway.
