Jessica Lange Shuts Down 'American Horror Story' Comeback Rumors
Alright, horror fans, if you were holding out hope for Jessica Lange to make a grand return to American Horror Story , I’ve got some bad news for you. The legendary actress, who was a staple of the series in its early seasons, just gave a hilariously blunt response when asked about the possibility of coming back—and let’s just say, it’s a hard no .
While attending the Dublin International Film Festival for the premiere of Long Day’s Journey Into Night , Lange was approached by a reporter who asked if she’d ever consider stepping back into the AHS universe. Her response? “Oh Christ, no!” And just in case anyone thought she was joking, she doubled down, saying, “I haven’t done it for more than 10 years, 12 years, so, no, I’m not doing it.” Ouch.

Now, for those who need a refresher, Jessica Lange was the face of American Horror Story in its golden years. She started off strong in 2011’s Murder House as Constance Langdon, then kept us hooked in Asylum as Sister Jude, completely dominated Coven as Fiona Goode, and broke our hearts in Freak Show as Elsa Mars. Her last stint in the series was back in 2018 when she briefly reprised her Murder House role in Apocalypse . Since then, she’s moved on, working with AHS creator Ryan Murphy on other projects like Feud: Bette and Joan and The Politician .
So, what does this mean for AHS ? Well, while Lange is out, not everyone from the OG cast has sworn off the show. Sarah Paulson recently teased a possible return, calling AHS her “home” and saying she’d love to come back. But as for Jessica Lange? It looks like that ship has sailed.
If American Horror Story does end with Season 13, as some rumors suggest, don’t expect a surprise Lange cameo in the finale. Her feelings on the matter are crystal clear. She’s moved on, and she’s not looking back. Sorry, AHS fans, but we’ll just have to rewatch her past performances and relive the magic that way.
