Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s Release Date Finally Revealed!
If you’re a fan of the Metal Gear franchise, the time has come to mark your calendars. Konami has officially revealed the release date for the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater , which will drop on August 28, 2025. It’s been almost 21 years since Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater originally debuted, and this remake is set to take us back to the treacherous Soviet wilderness, where we’ll once again step into the boots of Naked Snake.
Fans were given a glimpse of the game through a leaked trailer on the PlayStation Store, which was later confirmed. The trailer showcases some action-packed moments—Naked Snake infiltrating a Russian military base, evading wildlife like alligators and mosquitoes, and battling advanced military mechs. These visuals are brought to life thanks to the shift from the previous FOX engine to Unreal Engine 5, ensuring breathtaking graphics and smoother gameplay. The game also retains some quirky elements from the original, including the “Snake vs Monkey” mode, where players capture chimps from the Ape Escape series in a post-campaign mini-game.

As for the gameplay, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater keeps the core elements of the 2004 original while introducing several updates. Snake's movements have been refined, allowing him to crouch-walk, making stealth even more precise without constantly toggling between crawling and sprinting. The aiming system is now more intuitive, letting players aim over Snake's shoulder for better precision. One of the new features is the battle damage system, where Snake’s injuries remain visible and can even impact his movement, adding a new layer of realism to the survival aspect of the game.
While the remake preserves the story and tone of the original, there’s one notable absence: Hideo Kojima, the genius behind the Metal Gear saga, is not involved in the project. Since his departure from Konami, Kojima has been focused on his own projects like Death Stranding . However, despite his absence, Konami has made it clear that they aim to honor his legacy and preserve his creative vision. The remake is being developed by Konami's internal team with the assistance of Virtuos, a studio known for remastering titles like Dark Souls Remastered .
For those eager to get their hands on the game early, there’s a Deluxe Edition that grants three days of early access starting on August 25, 2025. This edition includes additional content such as a SteelBook, keychain, Fox unit patch, and future expansions. As for the platforms, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but it won’t be making its way to last-gen consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One. There’s even speculation that it could eventually come to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
As we await the official release, the excitement continues to build for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater . This remake promises to deliver a fresh, modernized take on one of gaming’s most iconic titles, while maintaining the elements that made the original a classic. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer to the series, this is a game you won’t want to miss.
