Montreal Braces for Major Winter Storm with Heavy Snowfall

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the region, and things are about to get intense. Right now, we're seeing grey skies and a few flurries, but that’s just the calm before the storm. The real action kicks in Wednesday night into Thursday , with a powerful low-pressure system coming in from Texas, bringing anywhere between 20 to 35 centimetres of snow .
That means we’re looking at heavy snowfall, poor visibility, and tough travel conditions, especially during the Thursday morning commute. If you have to be on the road, take extra precautions because sudden whiteout conditions could make things really tricky. The local blowing snow could also add to the chaos, making it even harder to see.

But things change quickly— Wednesday will bring clear skies but frigid temperatures , with a high of -11°C , and the wind chill making it feel like -27°C in the morning . By Thursday, when the storm really hits, we’ll see a slightly milder -3°C , but that won’t make dealing with all that snow any easier.
Looking ahead, things improve just in time for Valentine’s Day on Friday , with sunny skies and a high of -7°C —a little chilly but at least clear. The weekend, however, could bring more intermittent snowfall, with highs around -9°C on Saturday and -6°C on Sunday .
