Texas Authorities Crack Down on Controversial Colony Ridge Development

The lawsuit claims that foreign-born and Hispanic buyers—especially those who struggle with English—were targeted with misleading sales tactics, often ending up with land that lacked basic infrastructure, leading to high foreclosure rates. The U.S. Department of Justice has also taken legal action, alleging that the developers ran a predatory lending scheme that disproportionately affected Latino buyers.
Governor Abbott said on social media that he’s been working with former Trump administration official Tom Homan—who now serves as Trump’s “border czar”—for months to plan this operation. While details on arrests or other enforcement actions are still scarce, this marks one of the most aggressive law enforcement crackdowns tied to immigration status in recent years.
