Canadian Furniture Giant Prepac Moves Jobs to U.S., Sparking Outrage

The company opened its Delta factory in 2005, but things took a turn in 2019 when Prepac was acquired by TorQuest Partners, a private equity firm based in Toronto. Fast forward to 2021, and Prepac opened a new plant in North Carolina. Now, just a few years later, they’re shutting down their Canadian operations and making a full move south of the border.
Unifor isn’t taking this lightly. The union is calling for a nationwide boycott of Prepac products, joining the growing sentiment against American-made goods in Canada. The backlash is intensifying, with many Canadians seeing this as another case of a company abandoning its roots for profit.
