Premium Bonds Saver Wins £1M Jackpot with Just £100 Holding

Imagine putting away just £100 in Premium Bonds and waking up to find out you've won £1 million. Sounds like a dream, right? Well, for one lucky saver from Cleveland, Yorkshire, this became a reality in the latest National Savings & Investments (NS&I) Premium Bonds draw.

This winner, who invested in their Premium Bonds back in May 2023, has just bagged one of the two £1 million jackpots for March 2025—defying the odds in a spectacular way. To put it into perspective, the chances of winning a £1 million jackpot with only £100 invested are a staggering 1 in 620 million! This makes them the second smallest holding ever to scoop the grand prize since NS&I introduced the million-pound jackpot in 1994.

The only winner with a smaller holding was someone from Newham, London, who won with just £17 worth of Premium Bonds—purchased all the way back in 1959. Before today, the second smallest winning holding was £1,001, won by a saver from Devon in August 2021. So, this new win proves that, despite the odds, anyone with Premium Bonds has a chance to strike it lucky.

Joining them in the millionaires’ club this month is another winner from Cumbria, who took home £1 million with a significantly larger holding of £35,000. Clearly, while having more bonds increases your chances, this latest result shows that even a small investment can lead to a life-changing payout.

Beyond the jackpot winners, there were plenty of other lucky bondholders this month, with 83 winners receiving £100,000 prizes. Notably, one of them won with just a £14 holding—purchased all the way back in 1977! It’s these incredible stories that keep the Premium Bonds excitement alive, proving that every single £1 bond has the same chance of winning.

However, not all news is rosy for Premium Bonds savers. The prize fund rate, which currently stands at 4%, is set to drop to 3.8% from the April 2025 draw. This means fewer high-value prizes, including four fewer £100,000 prizes next month. The odds of winning remain at 22,000 to 1 for each £1 bond, but the overall prize pool is shrinking slightly.

Still, for those who enjoy the thrill of the monthly draw, this latest £1 million win is proof that you never know when luck might strike. Whether you’ve got £100 or £50,000 in Premium Bonds, the next big win could have your name on it!
