Strong Earthquake Strikes New Zealand, Coastal Warning Issued

GeoNet, New Zealand’s seismic monitoring agency, received over 4,700 reports from individuals who felt the earthquake. The United States Geological Survey initially recorded the quake at a magnitude of 7.0 before revising it to 6.7, while Australia’s weather bureau confirmed that no tsunami threat existed for the mainland or its territories.
