Tamim Iqbal Suffers Heart Attack During DPL Match
In an unexpected and shocking turn of events, Bangladesh cricket legend Tamim Iqbal suffered a heart attack while leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match. The 36-year-old former captain was playing against Shinepukur Cricket Club at BKSP in Savar when he suddenly experienced discomfort in his chest.
Initially, he received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. According to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury, Tamim underwent an ECG, which indicated some irregularities. He was then advised to rest but expressed a desire to return to Dhaka. However, on his way back, he once again felt severe chest pain, prompting an emergency return to the hospital. It was at this stage that doctors confirmed he had suffered a massive heart attack.

Tamim was swiftly admitted to Fazilatunnesa Hospital, where he is now under observation. Medical professionals have confirmed that he is undergoing an operation, and a stent is being placed to ensure proper blood flow to his heart. The situation has left the entire cricketing community in shock, with teammates, officials, and fans pouring in their prayers and support for his swift recovery.
Following this alarming incident, several board members of the Bangladesh Cricket Board rushed to the hospital to check on his condition. In response to the emergency, the scheduled board meeting was postponed, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Tamim Iqbal, one of Bangladesh’s most celebrated cricketers, has had an illustrious career, representing his country in 391 matches across all formats. He is the only Bangladeshi batsman to have scored centuries in all three formats of international cricket and remains a key figure in the country’s cricket history.
