Forest Shock Spurs with Clinical Display in London Standoff
What a night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium! Honestly, if you’re a Forest fan, you’re buzzing—absolutely bouncing. But if you're on the Spurs side of things, it's a hard one to swallow. Nottingham Forest came out looking sharp and left London with three massive points after a 2-1 win over a Tottenham side that just couldn’t find their rhythm until it was too late.
Right from the jump, Forest showed they meant business. It took them only five minutes to get on the scoresheet—Elliot Anderson struck what looked like a hopeful shot, but it took a cruel deflection off Bentancur and flew into the net. Deflating for Spurs. Then, just eleven minutes later, Forest were at it again. Chris Wood, who hadn’t scored since mid-February, rose to meet a perfect cross from Anthony Elanga and nodded it home. Boom—2-0, and the Forest fans were loving it.
Tottenham had their moments, sure. Possession? Loads of it. Chances? A fair few. But this was a classic case of “all bark, no bite” for most of the match. Richarlison had a couple of headers, one of which went just over, another stopped brilliantly by Forest’s keeper Matz Sels. And let’s give it to Sels—he was massive tonight. Kept Forest in the lead when things got scrappy towards the end.

When Richarlison finally pulled one back in the 87th minute—thanks to a decent ball in from Pedro Porro—you thought, “Here we go, late drama.” But Forest held firm. Toffolo even pulled off a heroic goal-line clearance earlier in the second half, just pure grit and commitment from them.
And look, credit to Nuno EspÃrito Santo. His Forest team might not dominate the ball, but they know exactly what they’re doing. They’re organized, resilient, and brutally effective on the break. Two goals from just three shots on target. That’s what you call clinical.
On the flip side, Ange Postecoglou looked a frustrated man. Understandably so. Spurs played some lovely football in patches, dominated possession, but again, they conceded poor goals and were chasing the game. Ange even said it himself—it’s the story of their season: good football, bad results. They're now sitting 16th in the table, with eyes clearly more on the Europa League than anything else at this point.
Forest, though? They're back up to third. Third! If you'd said that at the start of the season, people would’ve laughed. But they’ve earned it. And now they’ve got a date at Wembley in the FA Cup semis. It's shaping up to be a dream season for them.
What a twist this league has taken.
