
BMW XM Gets a Trim Overhaul, But Its Bold Style Remains Unchanged
Let’s talk about BMW’s latest move with the XM—a car that’s been turning heads and splitting opinions since it launched. BMW has just streamlined the XM lineup, making things a little more straightforward… at least in terms of trims. While the design of the car remains just as polarizing as ever, the lineup now consists of just two models: the XM 50e and the top-tier XM Label.
So, what’s actually changed? Well, previously there were three XM trims available, but now BMW has trimmed that down to two. You either go with the 50e or you go all-in on the Label. No more middle-ground. Interestingly, the engines and performance setups stay the same—BMW hasn’t touched the guts, just the packaging.

The 50e comes with a turbocharged hybrid straight-six engine delivering 469 horsepower. It also offers about 50 miles of pure electric driving, thanks to a 25.8kWh battery. On the other end of the spectrum, the XM Label packs a punch with a massive 738 horsepower from its V8 plug-in hybrid setup. Its electric-only range dips just slightly to 47 miles. Both variants now support faster charging speeds—up to 11kW—which is a practical bonus for those who actually intend to use the electric range daily.
But BMW didn’t stop there. The XM Label now gets some serious visual and feature upgrades. There’s a new Welcome Light Animation to greet you as you step inside, bigger 22-inch alloy wheels as standard (with optional 23s if you're feeling bold), and new seat accent colors like ‘Night Blue Merino’ and ‘Vintage Coffee Brown’ that give the interior an extra touch of luxury and personality.
And of course, all the premium goodies from the 50e are still there—like the 14.9-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a thumping Harman Kardon surround sound system. BMW is clearly going for high-end tech and comfort inside, even if the exterior design continues to be, well… an acquired taste.
Now, let’s talk price. The XM 50e starts at £112,580, while the XM Label climbs to £154,470. That’s a hefty price tag, especially for a car that, let’s be honest, might scare more than a few pedestrians with its aggressive styling. But if making a statement is your thing—and you want brutal performance with plug-in hybrid versatility—this lineup refresh might just make the XM a little more appealing.
