Prabhsimran Shines Bright, But PBKS Fall Short in a Final for the Ages
What a night it was in Ahmedabad! The IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings was everything fans hoped it would be—thrilling, emotional, and filled with unforgettable moments. And right at the heart of it all was Prabhsimran Singh, one of the brightest sparks for PBKS this season, who gave it his all in the biggest game of the year.
Chasing 191 for glory, PBKS started off strong, and much of that early charge was powered by the fearless opening duo of Priyansh and Prabhsimran. The two went after the new ball with intent, and by the 8th over, PBKS were sitting pretty at 70 for no loss. Prabhsimran looked in control, playing his strokes with confidence and setting the tone for what looked like a comfortable chase.

But just as it seemed PBKS might be cruising, the tide began to turn. Josh Hazlewood removed Priyansh for 24, and from there, RCB's fielding unit came alive. Catches stuck, pressure mounted, and the once smooth chase turned bumpy. Prabhsimran, after a composed 26, fell to Krunal’s tight spell, which proved to be a turning point in the game. His dismissal triggered a collapse PBKS couldn’t fully recover from.
Despite valiant efforts from Inglis and a late fightback by Shashank—who smashed an unbeaten 61—PBKS fell short by just 6 runs. It was heartbreak, but there was also pride. The Kings may not have lifted the trophy, but they showed fight till the very last ball.
For RCB, this was redemption. Eighteen long years of waiting ended in joy. Kohli, who has given his youth to this franchise, finally saw his dream realized. The unsung hero with the bat was Jitesh Sharma, whose explosive 24 off 10 proved to be the game-changer.
Prabhsimran’s consistency and composure throughout the season, and especially in the high-pressure environment of the final, will surely be remembered. He’s grown as a player this season, and this performance under lights only adds to his rising stature in Indian cricket. While PBKS will reflect on what could have been, they’ll also take heart in the fact that their young core—including Prabhsimran—is shaping up to be something truly special.
In cricket, finals are cruel. One side rejoices, the other regroups. But for fans of the game, especially those watching Prabhsimran’s rise, this match was pure gold.
