Qatar Airways Redefines Inflight Dining with Chef Ross Lusted's Exclusive Menu
Qatar Airways is once again raising the bar in premium air travel, and this time, it’s all about the food. The airline has officially partnered with acclaimed Australian chef Ross Lusted to unveil a brand-new premium inflight menu designed specifically for First and Business Class passengers. This exciting culinary collaboration is set to launch on 12 June 2025 and will be available on all Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia flights departing from Australia to Doha.
So what’s the big deal here? Well, if you’re someone who values fine dining at 40,000 feet, you’re in for a treat. Ross Lusted, known for his restaurants Woodcut in Sydney and Marmelo in Melbourne, has brought his signature clean, bold, and seasonal approach to the skies. The new menu celebrates the richness of Australian produce while maintaining Qatar Airways' global standard for exceptional onboard service.
Passengers can expect dishes that rival the finest restaurants on the ground. In First Class, the experience kicks off with Fraser Island Spanner Crab Cakes, followed by a Black Angus Beef Tenderloin with green beans and tarragon butter, and rounded off with a decadent Textures of Chocolate dessert. Business Class passengers won’t be missing out either, with standout options like a Seared Cured Fish Plate, Lamb Osso Buco, and a creamy Basque Cheesecake topped with softened dry fruits and vanilla.

According to Qatar Airways’ Senior Vice President for Product Development, Xia Cai, this partnership is part of their ongoing commitment to deliver excellence at every touchpoint. It’s not just about meals—it’s about creating a memorable, luxurious journey. Collaborating with a chef of Ross Lusted’s calibre reflects the airline’s vision to merge local authenticity with world-class dining.
What’s even more exciting is that this isn’t a one-time offering. The menu will rotate every three months, with four seasonal updates curated directly by Lusted. All ingredients will be sourced locally in Australia, supporting sustainability while highlighting the best the region has to offer.
Ross Lusted himself described the project as a rare opportunity—to reimagine inflight dining with a global platform like Qatar Airways while keeping the heart of Australian cuisine intact. For him, translating high-end restaurant quality into the unique environment of an aircraft cabin was a welcome challenge.
And let’s not forget, Qatar Airways is no stranger to excellence. The airline was recently named ‘World’s Best Business Class’ for the 11th time and has taken home ‘World’s Best Airline’ eight times. With over 170 global destinations and seamless connections through Hamad International Airport—voted the best airport in the world—Qatar Airways continues to dominate the skies.
This new collaboration isn’t just a win for Qatar Airways; it’s a proud moment for Australian cuisine, aviation innovation, and travelers who appreciate the finer things, even in the air. So next time you’re flying from Australia to Doha, you might just find yourself enjoying a meal that’s as unforgettable as the destination.
