Vlade Divac in Stable Condition After Motorcycle Accident in Montenegro
Hey everyone, I just came across some big news about one of the greatest legends in Serbian and world basketball — Vlade Divac. It’s not the kind of news anyone wants to hear, but thankfully, there’s a silver lining.
Vlade Divac, the iconic former NBA star and international basketball hero, has been involved in a serious motorcycle accident while vacationing on the Montenegrin coast. The incident happened near Luštica, where Divac and his family own luxury property. According to reports, after falling off his motorcycle, he couldn't get up on his own and had to be rushed to the hospital for surgery. Doctors confirmed that he had to undergo a hip operation and had an artificial joint implanted.

At 57 years old and still standing tall at 216 centimeters, Divac may have left professional basketball years ago, but he remains a towering figure in the sport, both literally and figuratively. It’s heartbreaking to imagine someone who once battled giants on NBA courts now being sidelined by a fall like this. But the good news is — he’s in stable condition. There were no other injuries reported, and doctors don’t expect complications from the procedure.
Just to remind everyone who we’re talking about here — Vlade Divac is one of the first Europeans to break into the NBA in a big way. He was drafted back in 1989 and went on to have a storied career with the Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, and especially the Sacramento Kings, where his jersey number 21 is now retired. He was even inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019.
Beyond the NBA, Divac has had a remarkable journey. From playing for Partizan and the Yugoslavian national team to becoming a two-time Olympic silver medalist and multiple-time European and world champion, his resume is legendary. After retiring from the game, he stayed deeply involved in basketball — working as a scout, GM, and even serving as the president of the Olympic Committee of Serbia.
In recent years, Divac has spent more time with his family, enjoying life and investing in property along the Adriatic coast. His wife Ana confirmed his condition and thanked everyone for their support during this difficult time. She’s currently staying in their seaside residence while he recovers.
I know I speak for millions when I say — get well soon, Vlade. Your strength, spirit, and legacy continue to inspire, and we’re all rooting for a full and speedy recovery.
