Barcelona Thrills Fans With 7-Goal Show in Seoul as Flick Praises Gavi’s Leadership
Barcelona fans in Asia got quite the spectacle as the Spanish giants continued their pre-season tour with a stunning 7-3 victory over FC Seoul in South Korea. The match was packed with action, goals, and glimpses of the depth and talent this Barça squad holds, even during a transitional phase under new manager Hansi Flick.
Things kicked off with intensity as Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring early, followed by a goal from Lamine Yamal. But FC Seoul didn’t back down—they managed to respond twice, drawing level and reminding everyone that this wasn’t going to be a walk in the park. Still, just before the break, Yamal struck again, ensuring Barcelona headed into halftime with a 3-2 lead.

In the second half, Flick decided to rotate the entire lineup—and that’s when things really exploded. Andreas Christensen added to the tally, then Ferran Torres got in on the action with a brace. In between, Gavi found the net too, and what made it more special was that he did so while wearing the captain's armband. By the final whistle, Barça had scored seven, though the three goals they conceded did leave a slight blemish on an otherwise thrilling performance.
After the game, Hansi Flick addressed the media and shared his thoughts on the match. He acknowledged the defensive hiccups in the first half but chose to highlight the positive, especially the attacking rhythm and sharp transitions. “The first half started well, then we got a bit lazy,” he admitted. “But we came back strong—and in the second half, the level was very high again.”
He also took a moment to praise individual players, and Gavi clearly stood out. Flick was visibly pleased with the young midfielder's display, especially in a leadership role. “He pushed the team, he wore the armband, and it’s just good to see him like that,” Flick said. When asked about Gavi’s ideal role, Flick kept things open, saying the player can be effective in either the No. 6 or No. 8 role.
There were also some updates on the squad rotation—youth talents like Guille and Toni Fernandez got their first pre-season minutes, while Eric Garcia and Iñigo Martínez were rested as a precaution due to minor fitness concerns. Flick wrapped things up by saying he was overall very satisfied with the performance and the energy the team showed across both halves.
For fans, especially those in Seoul, this was more than just a pre-season friendly. It was a celebration of talent, promise, and Barça’s ever-evolving identity under a new manager.
