Quebec Star Marc Messier Sells His Outremont Home for $3.35M
So, here's a story that caught a lot of attention this week in Quebec’s real estate and entertainment circles. A big-name actor — Marc Messier — has just sold his gorgeous home in Outremont, and it made headlines not just because of who he is, but because of the price tag attached to the deal.
The home in question is a beautiful, century-old property located at 266 avenue Outremont, right in the heart of Montreal’s prestigious Outremont neighborhood. This isn’t your average house — it was built back in 1912 and has that classic, historic charm. Spread over two floors, it offers five spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, and more than 3,700 square feet of living space. Not to mention it sits on a generous lot of about 5,700 square feet.

Marc Messier, a household name in Quebec, is known for his iconic roles in productions like Broue , Les Voisins , La Petite Vie , Lance et compte , and of course, Les Boys . He had purchased this property way back in the fall of 1999 for around $630,000. After living there for over 25 years, he decided it was time to downsize — something many can relate to after raising families or hitting a new chapter in life.
He initially listed the house for $3.65 million, but the final deal closed at $3.35 million — which is about 8.2% below the asking price. Still, that’s a significant jump from the price he paid back in the day. The home was sold officially on June 30th, and according to public records, the new owner had to pay a hefty transfer tax — over $100,000 just for that.
Interestingly, during the latest municipal assessment in 2021, the home had been valued at around $3.42 million — an increase of more than 50% compared to its prior assessment. Municipal taxes alone came out to over $21,000 for the year 2024.
This kind of transaction not only speaks to how much the real estate market in areas like Outremont has grown, but also to the evolving lifestyle choices of people like Messier — who’s spent a lifetime entertaining Quebecers and is now transitioning to a quieter, likely more manageable living space.
So yeah, whether you’re into celebrity gossip or real estate trends, this is one of those “did you hear?” moments that makes you look at your own home and wonder — what would it sell for today?
