Shannon Sharpe Reaches Settlement in $50 Million Rape Lawsuit

Now, the lawsuit originally accused Sharpe of raping the woman twice in October 2024 and once more in January 2025. Fast forward to now, and both parties have come to a resolution through what the woman’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, called “protracted and respectful negotiations.” On July 18, Buzbee announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the matter was fully resolved and the lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice — meaning it cannot be refiled in the same court. However, no details about the settlement were disclosed publicly.
Since the allegations went public, Sharpe took a step back from his role on ESPN’s First Take , although he’s expected to return by the start of the NFL preseason. Despite his absence from TV, Sharpe continued hosting his popular podcasts Club Shay Shay and Nightcap with Chad Ochocinco. Interestingly, Sharpe has not made any public comments since the settlement was announced.
