Tragedy at Eastpointe McDonald's: A Shocking Act of Violence
I can’t believe I’m even talking about this, but something truly heartbreaking and horrifying happened recently at a McDonald’s in Eastpointe, Michigan. It’s the kind of story that leaves you stunned, wondering how a regular workday could suddenly turn into a nightmare.
So, here’s what happened. On the morning of July 10, around 8 a.m., police were called to a McDonald’s on 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe. The call was about a stabbing—and even a shot being fired. When officers arrived, they found that a 39-year-old manager named Jennifer Harris had been stabbed multiple times. Tragically, she didn’t survive. The person accused of attacking her? A fellow employee, 26-year-old Afeni Badu Muhammad.
Apparently, there was an argument between the two that morning, and Harris decided to send Muhammad home early. But instead of leaving things there, Muhammad drove off, sat in a nearby park, and then made a chilling decision. She came back—this time armed with a kitchen knife and wearing a hooded mask to hide her identity. According to the assistant prosecutor, she stabbed Harris up to 15 times.

What’s even more intense is that a customer in the drive-thru line saw the attack and fired a warning shot in the air to try and stop it. He ended up detaining Muhammad at gunpoint until police got there. Just imagine sitting in your car, waiting for breakfast, and then witnessing something like that.
Now, Muhammad has been charged with first-degree murder and other serious offenses. Her bond has been set at $25 million, and she’s been ordered to wear a GPS tether and stay in Michigan if she’s ever released—which is highly unlikely. Disturbingly, prosecutors also mentioned that she had a past incident involving a stabbing.
As for Jennifer Harris—this is the part that really tears you up—she was a single mother of six. Her kids are now left without their mom, all because of a senseless and violent act. Her daughter described her as selfless, always putting her children first. She worked every day to take care of them. It’s just devastating.
The McDonald’s where it all happened remains closed, and the local owner expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, saying that violence like this has no place in their restaurants.
