Tragedy Strikes Dog the Bounty Hunter’s Family in Devastating Accident

Hey everyone, I’ve got some heartbreaking news that’s just come out, and honestly, it’s one of those stories that’s really tough to talk about. Over the weekend, Duane Chapman — who many of us know as Dog the Bounty Hunter — and his family were struck by an unimaginable tragedy. His 13-year-old step-grandson, Anthony, was accidentally shot and killed by his own father, Gregory Zecca.

The incident took place on Saturday night in Naples, Florida. According to multiple reports, including from TMZ, this was a completely accidental shooting — described by authorities as an “isolated incident.” Law enforcement responded to a call around 8 p.m. local time, and while the investigation is still ongoing, no arrests have been made. At this point, it appears to be a devastating freak accident with no foul play suspected.

Greg Zecca is the son of Francie, Dog’s wife. Francie and Dog got married back in 2021 after both had tragically lost their previous spouses. Their bond was built on shared grief, and they’ve blended their families closely ever since. In fact, Greg has worked alongside Dog and his daughter Lyssa in their bounty hunting team.

Following the incident, Dog and Francie released a statement through a representative, asking for privacy and expressing the deep sorrow they’re experiencing. The statement read: “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”

As a parent — or even just as a human being — it’s hard to imagine the weight of something like this. One moment, everything’s normal… and in the blink of an eye, life changes forever. No one expects to bury their child — let alone under circumstances this tragic.

The family is asking for space and prayers, and I think it’s the least we can do — send them love, strength, and compassion during such an unthinkable time. Moments like this remind us how fragile life is and how quickly everything can change. My thoughts are with Dog, Francie, Gregory, and everyone affected by this profound loss.
