Bournemouth’s Neto Moves Back to Brazil with Permanent Botafogo Transfer
So here’s the latest news from the football world that’s been making some waves—Bournemouth has officially confirmed that their goalkeeper Neto has left the club to join Brazilian side Botafogo on a permanent deal. Neto, who’s 36 years old, initially came to Bournemouth in August 2022 from Barcelona on a free transfer. Since then, he’s had quite a journey, including spending last season on loan at Arsenal. Now, he’s heading back to Brazil’s Serie A, returning to Brazilian football for the first time since 2010 when he played for Athletico Paranaense.
Neto had a fairly solid run with Bournemouth, making 63 appearances in total. However, over time, he lost his spot as the number one goalkeeper under manager Andoni Iraola. This move marks the second goalkeeper to leave Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium this summer after Mark Travers’ transfer to Everton for £4 million last month. On the international front, Neto has had a brief but notable career representing Brazil. He has one senior cap for the national team and also competed in the 2012 London Olympics, where he played twice for Brazil’s Olympic squad.
