When they sold him to Brighton for €30 million, they secured a sell-on clause that entitles them to 20% of any future profit above that amount. So, if United does go all in and drops something like €120 million, Lille could walk away with a cool €18 million. Not bad for a player who had only started six Ligue 1 matches before leaving France.
Baleba’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. Brighton took a chance on him when he was still largely unproven, and he’s since flourished into a powerful, technical midfielder capable of dominating the middle of the pitch.
