Lake Mary’s Young Stars Keep Fighting in Little League World Series

So here’s what’s happening in the world of Little League — and if you’re from Lake Mary, Florida, this one hits home in the best way. Both the boys and girls Little League teams from Lake Mary have been giving it everything they’ve got in their quests for championship titles, and while the path hasn’t been easy, their runs have been nothing short of impressive.

Let’s start with the girls. The Lake Mary Little League softball team — these are 12U players, mind you — has had a rollercoaster of a week. Over the weekend, they came out swinging and beat the Northwest Region team 9-2. Then, on Tuesday night, they absolutely dominated Guilford Little League from Connecticut with a 9-0 shutout. That's two big wins and a clear sign that these girls aren’t just here for the ride — they’re serious contenders.

But like any tournament, there’s always a bump in the road. That bump came on Monday when Lake Mary faced the team from Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was a tight game, but Florida came up just short, losing 2-1. It wasn’t without controversy, either — there was a call on baserunner interference late in the game that had fans scratching their heads. Still, in a double-elimination format, one loss doesn’t mean it’s over. Far from it. These girls are getting another shot and will be back on the field again soon — ready to fight for their place in the next round.

Now, switching over to the boys. The 12U Lake Mary baseball team had an incredible run last year — they were crowned champions in 2024 after a nail-biter win over Chinese Taipei. So expectations were sky-high coming into 2025. And honestly, they looked strong early on. They rolled through West Virginia 10-0 and shut out South Carolina 14-0 in the regional semis.

But sports can be brutal sometimes. In a tough rematch against South Carolina, the boys fell just short, losing 5-4. That loss officially ended their World Series run for 2025, but make no mistake — this group showed heart, resilience, and the kind of sportsmanship that makes their community proud.

Lake Mary Little League, based at the Lake Mary Sports Complex, is more than just a youth program — it’s a proving ground for young talent and a symbol of community pride. Win or lose, both the boys and girls have shown what it means to play with passion and purpose.

So, while the boys wrap up an incredible chapter, all eyes now turn to the girls as they continue to battle in the Little League Softball World Series. Next game? Wednesday, August 6. And yes — the dream is still alive.
