India Crushes UAE in Asia Cup with Record-Breaking Win

India’s Asia Cup clash against the United Arab Emirates turned out to be one of the most one-sided contests of the tournament so far. In a game that lasted barely a blink in T20 standards, the UAE were bundled out for just 57 runs, the lowest total ever recorded against India in this format. What followed was a swift and ruthless chase, as India sealed victory by nine wickets in just 4.3 overs.

The demolition began with India’s bowlers putting on a masterclass. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav was simply unplayable. His sharp googlies and clever variations left the UAE batters in complete disarray. Four wickets fell to him for just seven runs, including a decisive leg-before dismissal of UAE captain Muhammad Waseem. Shivam Dube, the seamer, complemented Kuldeep perfectly. With pinpoint accuracy, he ran through the middle and lower order, finishing with three wickets for only four runs. The combined effort meant the hosts lasted only 13.1 overs before their innings was wrapped up.

Even though Jasprit Bumrah showed some rustiness on his return to T20 cricket, he still managed to strike early, bowling a trademark yorker to clean up Alishan Sharafu, who had been the only UAE batter showing some resistance. From a promising start of 41 runs for the loss of two wickets in the powerplay, the UAE suddenly found themselves collapsing in dramatic fashion. Once Kuldeep and Dube took charge, there was no coming back.

Chasing such a modest target, India came out with aggression and flair. Abhishek Sharma set the tone from the very first ball he faced, launching a six over extra cover. In no time, he had smashed three sixes and two fours, racing to 30 off just 16 deliveries. Although he was dismissed with only ten runs needed, the damage had already been done. Shubman Gill, calm and composed, anchored the chase with an unbeaten 20, while captain Suryakumar Yadav wasted no time either, sending his very first ball over the fine-leg boundary for six. The finishing touch came when Gill struck a boundary to seal the win, leaving the UAE with a crushing defeat to reflect on.

For India, the match was more than just an easy win. It was a confidence booster ahead of tougher challenges in the group, which also features Pakistan and debutants Oman. The fact that the team finally won a toss after losing 15 consecutive ones added a quirky twist to the day. Captain Suryakumar highlighted his side’s flexibility in adapting to conditions, and this performance certainly underlined that point.

In the end, the gulf in quality between the two teams was laid bare. UAE had their moments early on but were ultimately undone by India’s relentless attack. For India, it was business done quickly and emphatically — the kind of start any team would want in a high-profile tournament.
