Betway Cares Foundation Amplifies Female Voices with ‘Voices of Her’
The Betway Cares Foundation has just launched something truly inspiring for women across South Africa. It’s called “Voices of Her,” a national vocal search and mentorship programme that’s giving emerging female artists the platform they deserve. This initiative isn’t just about finding talent—it’s about nurturing it, shaping it, and helping women turn their voices into long-lasting careers.
The programme is especially focused on women aged 20 to 35 from previously disadvantaged communities. Many of these young women might have the passion and the gift of music, but they lack the tools, the connections, or the opportunities to break into the industry. That’s where Betway Cares steps in. Their goal is simple but powerful: to amplify women’s voices, give them visibility, and provide the resources they need to thrive in the creative space.
“Voices of Her” isn’t your typical talent show or contest. It’s designed as a 12-week journey . The first four weeks are all about selection, where the Top 12 finalists will be chosen. After that, an eight-week mentorship programme kicks in, and this is where the magic really happens. The finalists won’t just sing; they’ll be trained in everything that comes with building a music career. From vocal techniques and songwriting to branding, PR, financial literacy, and even the business side of the music world, nothing is left untouched.

What makes this initiative stand out is the mentorship itself. Finalists will get to learn directly from award-winning singer Bucie Nqwiliso and celebrated jazz vocalist Nomfundo Xaluva , along with other leading industry figures. The training includes five weeks of online learning followed by two weeks of in-person sessions in Johannesburg. And to make sure no one gets left behind because of financial or technological barriers, every finalist will be given a laptop and a data contract. That means they’ll have the tools to learn, connect, and grow fully throughout the programme.
For Betway Cares Foundation, this project is about more than just music. As Head of the Foundation, Bakang Lethoko , explained, it’s about restoring dignity, creating access, and equipping women with the abilities to build sustainable careers. When women are empowered, the impact doesn’t stop with them—it extends to their families, their communities, and even the industries they touch.
Entries are already open, and the process is simple. Aspiring singers just need to send a WhatsApp message with the word “Enter,” along with a 60-second video of themselves singing. From there, expert mentors will review and select the Top 12, with the finalists set to be announced on 24 October 2025 .
This programme is a bold step toward reshaping South Africa’s creative landscape. By investing in female talent and ensuring that their voices are not just heard but celebrated, Betway Cares is setting a precedent for how the creative industry can support real transformation. It’s more than a competition—it’s a platform for empowerment, dignity, and lasting change.
