Arc Raiders Unveils New Map with Community Unlock Event
Big news is arriving for Arc Raiders fans: Embark Studios is rolling out its first post-release map, and it’s not something players can just log in and explore immediately. The new area, called Stella Montis, has been visible but off-limits since the game’s launch, and now the studio is bringing it to life with a unique community-driven unlock event, reminiscent of Helldivers 2.
The update, named North Line, goes live on November 13, and it marks what Embark calls the first “major update” for Arc Raiders. Stella Montis is described as a cold, pristine corner of the Rust Belt, full of abandoned structures that feel almost untouched compared to the wreckage elsewhere in the game. It promises a mysterious atmosphere where players will be challenged to uncover the secrets left behind as humanity reached for the stars.

However, unlocking this map won’t be as simple as completing a solo mission. Players are invited to take part in a community event called “Breaking New Grounds,” which tasks raiders who’ve already battled through a few rounds to help rebuild the tunnels connecting to Stella Montis. The event is cooperative in nature, and while the exact mechanics remain a little ambiguous—whether players will contribute resources to a shared counter or actively clear tunnels on the map—it is clear that teamwork will be essential. The challenge also includes multiple phases, so unlocking Stella Montis could take hours or even days of collective effort.
Alongside the new map, North Line brings two new ARC enemies: the Matriarch and the Shredder. The Matriarch is described as a hulking adversary, far more intimidating than previous enemies, and will appear under specific map conditions right from the start of the event. The Shredder, on the other hand, is exclusive to Stella Montis and will test players in intense close-quarters combat. New weapons and items are also arriving, including the Energy Burst Battle Rifle, Impulse Mine, Timed Mine, and Gas Jump Mine, giving raiders more options to tackle these threats.
Another exciting addition in the update is the introduction of new playstyles: Lone Wolf and Trailblazer, which hint at deeper customization and strategic options, though Embark has yet to provide full details on how they integrate with skill trees or other systems.
