Jets Dominate Blue Jackets with a 5-2 Victory at Home
The Winnipeg Jets were back on home ice after a challenging six-game road trip, and they made sure to put on an impressive show for the fans. On Tuesday evening, the Jets faced off against the Columbus Blue Jackets, securing a solid 5-2 win at Canada Life Centre. Mark Scheifele was the star of the night, collecting three assists, while defenseman Josh Morrissey extended his scoring streak to six games. The victory was a testament to the Jets' resilience and teamwork as they moved to a 12-7-0 record on the season.
The game was an all-around team effort, with contributions from several key players. Adam Lowry scored his first goal of the season, while Neal Pionk also found the back of the net for his first goal of the year. Kyle Connor added a third-period goal along with an assist, and Logan Stanley sealed the win with another goal in the final frame. The offense was clicking, and nine different Jets players picked up points in the game, including five multi-point performances.

The Blue Jackets made things interesting with an early goal from Miles Wood on a breakaway in the first period. Zach Werenski added another for Columbus in the third period, but the Jets quickly regained control. After Werenski's goal cut the lead to 3-2, Stanley responded just over two minutes later, hammering home a shot to restore the Jets’ three-goal advantage.
Not only did the Jets dominate offensively, but they also delivered solid defense. Jets goalie Eric Comrie made 20 saves in the win, while the team did an excellent job of shutting down Columbus' top performers, including Kirill Marchenko, who had his 12-game point streak halted in the loss.
In addition to the strong play on the ice, the game marked a significant milestone for Mark Scheifele. He played in his 898th career game, surpassing Blake Wheeler for the most games played in franchise history, dating back to the Atlanta Thrashers days. Scheifele now sits just six points behind Nathan MacKinnon for the league lead in points, with 27 in 19 games.
With the win, the Jets remain firmly in the playoff race in the competitive Central Division. As the season progresses, they’ll need to keep up their momentum, especially with key players like Lowry, Cole Perfetti, and Dylan Samberg back in the lineup. The team is slowly returning to full strength, and they’ll be looking to continue their strong play when they face the Carolina Hurricanes next.
For Columbus, Werenski’s goal was a bright spot, as it marked his 400th career NHL point. Despite the loss, the Blue Jackets will look to bounce back in their next game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
