Zelensky Warns Ukraine Faces Hard Choices Amid Trump’s Peace Proposal
Ukraine is now confronting what President Volodymyr Zelensky has called “one of the most difficult moments” in the country’s history. Speaking on Friday, Zelensky addressed a proposal put forward by the United States, under the guidance of former President Donald Trump, which aims to end the ongoing conflict with Russia. The plan, however, comes with intense pressure on Kyiv, asking Ukraine to make major concessions—ceding territory, limiting its military capabilities, and pledging not to join NATO—in exchange for a halt to the war.
Zelensky was clear in his warning, saying that the country could face a stark choice: either surrender its dignity or risk losing a crucial international partner. He also referred to “28 difficult points” in the plan, highlighting that the nation is under pressure unlike any other in recent memory. He cautioned that the most serious risks involve life without freedom, justice, or dignity, pointing out that Ukraine would be asked to trust a power that has already attacked it twice.

Despite the enormous pressure, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine will continue to work methodically and cooperatively with the US and other international partners to seek an end to the war. European leaders have voiced their support for Kyiv, stressing that no decisions about Ukraine’s future should be made without its participation.
In his address, Zelensky made it clear that Ukraine will engage diplomatically and present arguments and alternatives, but he firmly rejected any notion of appearing unwilling to seek peace. “We will definitely not give the enemy any reason to say that Ukraine does not want peace, that it is disrupting the process, and that Ukraine is not ready for diplomacy,” he said.
As the situation continues to unfold, the world watches closely. The pressure on Ukraine is unprecedented, and Zelensky’s leadership is being tested as he navigates the delicate balance between protecting his country’s sovereignty and exploring avenues for a possible end to the conflict. This story is still developing, and the coming days could prove decisive for Ukraine’s future.
