While clouds remain prevalent, particularly over the eastern regions, there are signs of gradual improvement. Rain is expected in parts of Taipei’s eastern areas and Yilan today, with a slight chance of scattered showers across other regions. Based on the European model’s forecasts, temperatures should gradually climb today. The northern regions will remain cool, while the southern areas will be pleasantly warm, with the daytime feeling slightly warmer than it has been recently.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, December 29, the forecast is for clearer skies, with continued warming. The northern regions will feel comfortable, and the south will experience mild warmth. However, there could still be some scattered showers along the north coast and in eastern parts of Taiwan.
In the coming days, from December 30 to 31, the northeast monsoon will slightly intensify, leading to an increase in cloud cover and a higher likelihood of sporadic rainfall, particularly in northern Taiwan. Temperatures will cool down a little during the day, but overall, the weather will remain fairly stable across the rest of the island, with sunny skies and moderate warmth.
Starting on January 1, a new cold front will begin to move southward. This will bring a shift in weather patterns, with localized short rains expected in northern and eastern Taiwan. By January 2 and 3, there is a high probability of a strong continental cold air mass reaching Taiwan, making temperatures drop significantly, possibly marking the first strong cold wave of the season.
Although weather models are still showing some uncertainty regarding the exact nature and timing of these cold fronts, predictions suggest that temperatures could take a significant plunge in early January. For now, it is best to stay updated on weather forecasts as these conditions continue to evolve.
