Drugs, Medals, and Motorcycles Seized in Raids Linked to Fugitive Ryan Wedding
There’s a major development unfolding around the international manhunt for Ryan Wedding, the former Canadian Olympic snowboarder who is now one of the most wanted fugitives in the world. In a series of coordinated raids in Mexico, authorities have seized a striking mix of drugs, luxury items, and personal artifacts that appear to be directly connected to Wedding’s alleged criminal network.
According to Mexican officials, four homes were searched in Mexico City and the nearby State of Mexico as part of a joint operation involving multiple agencies. What was uncovered paints a dramatic picture. Large quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana were found, along with ammunition and stacks of documents. But what really caught attention was the lifestyle on display — 62 high-end motorcycles, additional luxury vehicles, valuable artwork, and even two Olympic medals were seized during the raids.

While authorities did not officially name Wedding in their announcement, the target was described as “a former Olympic athlete who is among the 10 most wanted fugitives by U.S. authorities.” Mexican media outlets quickly identified Ryan Wedding as the individual linked to the properties. The medals, though eye-catching, have not been confirmed as belonging to him, especially since his own Olympic finish at the 2002 Winter Games placed him well outside the podium.
Wedding, now 44, has been accused by U.S. authorities of leading a massive international drug operation. It has been alleged that his network moved as much as 60 metric tonnes of cocaine into Canada each year, routing shipments through Mexico and California. The operation has also been tied to extreme violence, with investigators claiming that dozens of killings across multiple countries were ordered as part of maintaining control and silencing threats.
The case took an even darker turn with the murder of federal witness Jonathan Acebedo Garcia earlier this year in Colombia. Garcia, who once worked closely within Wedding’s alleged organization, had later agreed to cooperate with investigators. Prosecutors believe his killing was arranged to prevent further testimony, and several individuals connected to Wedding have since been charged in relation to that plot.
U.S. officials have described Wedding as exceptionally dangerous, wealthy, and ruthless. The FBI has compared him to a modern-day version of Pablo Escobar and has raised the reward for information leading to his arrest to $15 million — the highest on its most-wanted list. He is believed to be hiding in Mexico under the protection of the Sinaloa cartel.
For now, the investigation is ongoing. Authorities say these raids are the result of growing cooperation between U.S. and Mexican law enforcement, and they insist the pressure will not let up. As one FBI official put it clearly, Ryan Wedding will be found, and he will be brought to justice.
