Haaland and Foden Fire Man City to Convincing 3-0 Win Over Crystal Palace
Manchester City moved to within just two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal, securing a dominant 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The win, which saw Erling Haaland score twice and Phil Foden net another, came as a timely reminder of City's attacking potency as they continue to chase down the top spot in the league.
The match was a fast-paced affair, but it was City who drew first blood. Matheus Nunes delivered a perfect cross into the box, which was met by Haaland's header in the 28th minute. It was the Norwegian’s 17th goal of the season, once again proving why he is one of the deadliest strikers in world football.

City were far from perfect during the first half, struggling at times against Palace's pressure. However, they were clinical when it mattered. Foden, in excellent form, doubled their lead in the 60th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box. The goal came after a strong run from Rayan Cherki, who played the ball to Foden for a composed finish that left goalkeeper Dean Henderson with no chance.
Despite Palace’s attempts to get back into the game—most notably when Yeremy Pino and Adam Wharton both struck the woodwork—City’s defense held firm. Gianluigi Donnarumma made key saves, including a strong stop to deny Palace's Eddie Nketiah, but it was Haaland who sealed the win. The striker converted a penalty in the dying minutes after Palace's Dean Henderson fouled Savinho, putting the result beyond doubt.
The victory was especially sweet for City, who avenged their defeat to Palace in the FA Cup final earlier this year. While their performance wasn’t flawless—City rode their luck at times, particularly in the first half—the result showcased their resilience, which manager Pep Guardiola praised post-match. Guardiola was also quick to highlight the solid defensive display from his side, particularly from Rúben Dias, who he described as an “incredible leader.”
For Palace, it was a frustrating night. Despite creating opportunities, they were unable to capitalize on their chances, with manager Oliver Glasner admitting that City were simply more efficient in both boxes. Palace’s performance was commendable in parts, but in the end, it was City’s ruthlessness that made the difference.
The result pushed Manchester City to second in the table, keeping them within touching distance of Arsenal, while Palace remain in fifth, just two points behind Chelsea. As City continue their march towards the title, Haaland's form remains a major concern for their rivals. With the win, City also extended their winning streak to four matches in the Premier League, signaling that their title charge is far from over.
