Strictly Come Dancing Semi-Final Turns Up the Heat in Glitterball Showdown
Strictly Come Dancing reached a thrilling peak this weekend as the competition narrowed to its final four, with each couple fighting for a place in next week’s glittering final. Week 12 was always going to be tough, but the semi-final delivered emotion, spectacle, and some of the highest standards seen all season. With double dances, packed audiences, and judges ready to be impressed, the pressure was firmly on.
Karen Carney and her professional partner Carlos set the tone early and never let it slip. Their elegant Waltz was performed with such grace that it visibly moved the judges, with Anton admitting he was left emotional by what he saw. That was followed by an explosive Salsa that brought the ballroom to life and had the audience on its feet. Between the two routines, a remarkable 78 out of 80 was awarded, placing them at the top of the leaderboard and firmly establishing them as serious contenders for the glitterball.

Close behind were Amber Davies and Nikita, who continued their incredible run of form. Their semi-final began with a dramatic Tango that was praised for its balance and precision. Later, their Couple’s Choice routine took things to another level altogether. Drawing on Amber’s personal journey, the performance was polished, theatrical, and packed with confidence. A perfect score of 40 was handed out once again, making it their third consecutive week of flawless marks and earning them standing ovations from both the judges and the crowd.
Balvinder Sopal and Julian delivered two contrasting but confident performances. Their fiery Salsa kicked off their night with energy and rhythm, while their Waltz showed a softer, more traditional side. Although some technical criticism was voiced, the overall impression remained strong, and their consistency was clearly felt throughout the ballroom.
Meanwhile, George Clarke and his partner Alexis showcased just how far he has come in the competition. His Samba was bursting with personality and joy, and while technique was questioned, the entertainment value was undeniable. His Charleston later in the night was described by Anton as “the best of you,” marking a proud moment in George’s journey.
With voting now closed, anticipation is building. Two couples will face the final dance-off, and only three will step onto the floor for the grand finale. One thing is certain: this semi-final proved that every remaining dancer has earned their place, and the road to the glitterball has never felt more exciting.
