That said, it’s worth noting that not every location follows the same schedule. Skating rinks across the city are also operating, weather permitting.
Public transit runs on a holiday schedule. The TTC follows Sunday service, and GO Transit operates on a Saturday schedule. Free transit carried over from New Year’s Eve into the early morning hours, making late-night and early-day travel easier.
So, if your New Year’s Day plan starts with a Tim Hortons coffee, chances are you’ll be able to get one. Toronto may slow down for the holiday, but it certainly doesn’t stop completely.
