Grammy Nominations 2025: The Artists Who Got Snubbed (and Definitely Should Have Been Recognized)
The Grammy Awards are always full of surprises, and this year, the 2025 nominations are no different. While some artists have received the recognition they deserve, others have been shockingly left out in the cold. The Grammys are known for their unpredictability, where one year, an artist sweeps multiple categories, and the next, they’re completely snubbed. This year, several high-profile musicians didn't make the list despite their achievements, leaving fans and critics alike questioning the decision-making of the Recording Academy.
First, let’s talk about some of the most surprising exclusions. Despite her triple Grammy win and a loyal fanbase, Dua Lipa failed to earn any nominations this year. Her single “Houdini,” which dropped in November 2023, and her album “Radical Optimism,” which arrived in May 2024, seemed primed for consideration. While the album did moderately well, it appears to have been forgotten by Grammy voters, despite her past successes.
Another major snub is Megan Thee Stallion, who had a breakout year in 2021 with a trio of Grammy wins, including Best New Artist. Yet, her highly anticipated third album, Megan , didn’t even make a dent in the 2025 nominations. Singles like “Cobra” and “Boa” generated buzz, but they, too, were ignored when it came to nominations. Even her chart-topping single “Hiss” failed to gain traction with voters, leaving many wondering why the rapper wasn't given her due recognition.
K-pop, a genre that has exploded in popularity in the U.S. in recent years, was also snubbed again. Despite massive international success, popular K-pop acts like BTS members Jung Kook and RM, as well as solo artist Lisa, were completely overlooked. While they each released strong solo offerings in 2024, it seems the Recording Academy has not yet fully embraced Korean pop music, much to the dismay of their global fanbase.

Country music fans also have reason to be frustrated. Despite a powerful performance of “Fast Car” at the 2024 Grammy ceremony with Tracy Chapman, Luke Combs didn’t receive any nominations for his album Gettin’ Old . Combs, who has made waves in country music with both his heartfelt songs and collaborations, seemed like a shoe-in for recognition, but once again, he was passed over.
Then, there’s Dolly Parton, whose star-studded Rockstar album, which featured collaborations with the likes of Steven Tyler, Pink, and John Fogerty, was shockingly ignored by the Academy. The album, filled with both covers and original songs, had potential for nominations in performance categories. Yet, despite its diverse collaborations and heart, it was excluded from the list.
And let’s not forget Nicki Minaj, who continues to be one of the biggest names in hip-hop and pop, but has yet to win a Grammy. This year, her latest album Pink Friday 2 debuted at the top of the charts, and singles like “Last Time I Saw You” were expected to make an impact. But in another disappointing twist, Minaj was left out of the running completely.
It’s clear that the Grammys, while celebrating incredible talent, can sometimes overlook deserving artists, creating a feeling of unfairness among fans and musicians alike. Whether it’s due to changing musical trends or personal biases within the voting process, many artists who dominated the charts and shaped the cultural landscape in 2024 didn’t get their moment in the spotlight. Hopefully, the 2025 Grammy ceremony will continue to highlight new and emerging talent while also recognizing the icons who were unjustly left behind.
