On the latest episode of Saturday Night Live , Colin Jost and Michael Che’s infamous Weekend Update segment, "Joke Swap," reached new heights of hilarity and discomfort. This time, Jost found himself in the hot seat as his co-host Michael Che fed him a series of brutal jokes, many of which had a very personal touch, particularly regarding Jost's wife, Scarlett Johansson. The segment is known for its edgy humor, where Jost and Che write jokes for each other that the other has never seen before, creating plenty of laughs and awkward moments.

Scarlett Johansson, who was backstage during the segment, could be seen reacting to the wild jokes. This annual Christmas tradition has Jost dreading his turn as Che crafts outrageous and sometimes inappropriate jokes for him. Johansson has openly admitted her fear of this segment, joking that she might need to go into witness protection after each performance.

This time, the audience got to witness her firsthand reaction, and it was priceless. As Jost started reading the jokes, it was clear that this year’s Joke Swap was particularly brutal. One of the first jokes involved Jost’s wife’s recent milestone birthday. He joked about her turning 40, saying, “which means I’m about to get up outta there!” The crowd erupted in both cheers and groans, and Johansson, visibly shocked, was seen shaking her head backstage. But that wasn’t all—Jost then proceeded to make a joke about their child, claiming that the reason no pictures of their baby had been released yet was because “he’s Black as hell!” This line, which clearly pushed boundaries, had Johansson exclaiming “Oh my God!” from behind the scenes.

And just when the audience thought it couldn’t get any more uncomfortable, Jost delivered a third shocking punchline. In a crude reference to Costco removing roast beef sandwiches from its menu, he jokingly compared his eating habits to a more intimate detail about his wife, throwing in a racy quip that made Johansson audibly react in disbelief.

As if the night wasn’t wild enough, Michael Che wasn’t spared either. He was forced to read his own set of irreverent jokes, including one that referenced the box-office success of Moana 2 with an extremely inappropriate comment that touched on the character of Moana. The crowd responded with a mix of shock and laughter, but Che’s attempt to push the envelope didn’t stop there. He then made a comment about rap allegations involving Jay-Z and Diddy, which continued the edgy, no-holds-barred tone of the segment.

Despite the shocking nature of the jokes, Johansson appeared to be in good spirits by the end of the show. While she had reacted with a mix of surprise and concern during the Joke Swap , she was seen chatting with her husband and SNL guests like Paul Rudd, showing no hard feelings. As the segment ended, it was clear that Jost and Che had successfully outdone themselves in the realm of edgy humor. The Joke Swap segment is known for its unpredictability, and this year’s edition was no exception—leaving everyone wondering what could possibly come next in this hilariously uncomfortable tradition.
