Ajax Blocks Jordan Henderson's Transfer Amid Monaco Interest
Ajax has firmly shut the door on Jordan Henderson’s potential move to AS Monaco this winter. The Ligue 1 side had shown strong interest in signing the experienced English midfielder, but Ajax’s technical director, Alex Kroes, made it clear that a departure is not up for discussion at this time.
Henderson, 34, has been a crucial player for Ajax, and the club sees him as an essential figure in their fight for a top-two finish in the Eredivisie. While Monaco was eager to secure his services immediately, Ajax values his leadership and experience too much to let him leave mid-season.

However, his contract with Ajax runs until 2026, and the club is not willing to take the risk of losing such an influential player without securing a suitable replacement.
From Monaco’s perspective, the opportunity to sign a player of Henderson’s caliber is enticing. The French club, currently third in Ligue 1, sees him as a key addition who could strengthen their midfield for the remainder of the season and beyond. Henderson, being one of the highest earners in the squad, could be a logical departure in the long run.
However, Ajax is not in a position to make a rushed decision, especially with the transfer deadline approaching. Finding a replacement for a player with Henderson’s experience and leadership qualities within such a short period is a significant challenge.
If Ajax eventually decides to let him go, names like Pablo Rosario could surface as potential replacements. Rosario, who previously worked under Ajax coach Francesco Farioli at Nice, has an expiring contract and could be an option for the Dutch giants.
