Mel Giedroyc Unveiled as Teeth onThe Masked Singer, Leaving Fans and Judges Stunned

On a recent episode of The Masked Singer , fans and judges were left in complete shock when a huge TV presenter was revealed as Teeth. The contestant, who had been a mystery throughout the competition, finally unmasked after facing off against Bear in a thrilling sing-off. The judges—Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, and Maya Jama—were all caught off guard as they voted to eliminate Teeth, completely unaware of the identity hiding beneath the oversized costume.

To everyone's surprise, when the Teeth mask was lifted, it was none other than the multi-talented Mel Giedroyc, known for her work as an actress, comedian, and presenter. Her reveal left the panel speechless, with not one of them guessing her name during the entire run of the show. Throughout the season, Mel had been successful in disguising her voice and appearance, which added to the challenge for both the judges and the audience at home. Other guesses for the contestant included sports commentator Alex Scott, comedian Su Pollard, and radio host Fern Cotton, but none of them were even close.

As Mel greeted the judges after the big reveal, she humorously joked, "I’ll take Su Pollard! It's so nice to see you guys. I love these teeth so much!" She expressed her enjoyment of the experience, admitting how fun it had been, despite the tough clues. However, many viewers had voiced their frustration at the so-called "impossible" clues, especially one referring to Australian soap Neighbours being filmed in Melbourne. Many fans quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their disbelief, with comments like, "Sorry, Neighbours reference was a clue to MELbourne!? These clues are getting impossible."

Mel herself acknowledged how wild the clues were, but also couldn’t help but appreciate how far she made it in the competition. She said, "I feel really elated actually. I blooming loved it. I’m sad because my next song was Pointer Sisters, ‘Automatic’ done as Marlene Dietrich. That would have been fun." Reflecting on the whole experience, Mel jokingly added that performing on the show had reached the peak of her career, saying, "If you told me you’re going to have a chance to sing the Neighbours theme tune dressed as an enormous pair of wind-up teeth, with pink tights and big pink flapping feet, I would say I could stop my career now."

The show’s audience seemed to share a sense of surprise, with many feeling that the clues, especially the Melbourne link, were too obscure to make any solid connections. "These clues are bloody stupid serious," one fan wrote in frustration. Despite this, Mel was in high spirits after the unmasking, commenting on how much she loved the fun and camaraderie of the show.

Interestingly, Mel’s appearance on The Masked Singer follows in the footsteps of her longtime co-star Sue Perkins, who previously appeared as Dragon on the show’s second season in 2021. Mel humorously noted that she didn't tell Sue about her participation, as Sue hadn’t shared her own involvement with Mel at the time. "She was a Dragon and she never told me. So right back at ya, girlfriend!" Mel quipped.

Her husband, Ben Morris, had known about her secret participation, and he took the matter very seriously, ensuring Mel received plenty of training before the big reveal. All in all, while the judges and viewers were left scratching their heads over the tricky clues, Mel’s time on the show was nothing short of a memorable experience. It will no doubt go down as one of the most surprising reveals in The Masked Singer history.
