Leyla Hirsch Set to Leave AEW as Contract Expires

Alright, let’s talk about some breaking news in the world of pro wrestling—Leyla Hirsch is officially on her way out of AEW. Yep, "Legit" Leyla Hirsch's contract is expiring at the end of February, and according to reports from PWInsider, she’s not re-signing with the company. That means, as of right now, she's a free agent with no non-compete clause, so she’s free to take bookings immediately.

For those who’ve been following her journey, Hirsch originally made her AEW debut back in 2020, during the pandemic era, when shows were taped at Daily’s Place. Her performances caught the company’s attention, leading to her signing a multi-year contract in March 2021. Over the next few years, she became a solid part of AEW’s women’s division, eventually feuding with Kris Statlander leading up to the 2022 Revolution pay-per-view. Unfortunately, right after that feud, her momentum came to a screeching halt when she tore her ACL in April 2022. That injury sidelined her for over a year.

When she finally made her comeback in the summer of 2023, AEW had different plans for her. Instead of making a major return on AEW’s main programming, she was placed in Ring of Honor, where she became a regular competitor. She had some standout moments there, including a critically acclaimed Texas Death Match against Diamante at Death Before Dishonor 2024 and a title match against Red Velvet for the ROH Women’s World Television Championship at Final Battle 2024 . But now, it looks like her time with AEW and ROH is officially over.

So, what's next for Leyla Hirsch? That’s the big question. Since she’s not locked into any non-compete restrictions, she could show up anywhere at any time. A return to the independent circuit? A potential WWE tryout? Maybe even an international run? Fans will definitely be keeping an eye on her next move.

This news comes as AEW is seeing quite a few departures lately—big names like Ricky Starks, Miro, and Malakai Black have also left the company. Whether this is just part of the natural talent shuffle or something bigger happening behind the scenes, time will tell. But one thing’s for sure: Hirsch has plenty of talent and experience, and wherever she lands next, it’ll be worth watching.
