Bushey Crossbow Killer’s Chilling Attack on Ex-Girlfriend and Her Family
The trial of Kyle Clifford has sent shockwaves across the UK as horrifying details emerge about the brutal attack that left three women dead. Clifford, a 26-year-old former soldier, is accused of not only murdering his ex-girlfriend, Louise Hunt, along with her mother and sister, but also of raping Louise in a final act of violence before taking her life.
According to the prosecution, Clifford meticulously planned the attack after Louise ended their 18-month relationship. Friends and family had expressed concerns about his aggressive and controlling behavior, and Louise herself had described the relationship as "sucking the life out of me." On July 9, 2024, Clifford tricked his way into the Hunt family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire. He deceived Carol Hunt, 61, Louise’s mother, into letting him inside before launching a brutal knife attack that ended her life. When she entered the house, Clifford overpowered her, restrained her with duct tape, and, as the prosecution claims, raped her in a "violent, sexual act of spite" before shooting her with a crossbow.

Moments later, Hannah Hunt, 28, arrived home from work, only to be met with the same fate—struck down by a crossbow bolt in what prosecutors describe as a cold, calculated attack.
Clifford had reportedly spent days preparing for the killings, purchasing weapons, duct tape, and even searching online to confirm that John Hunt, the victims' husband and father, would be away at work. The jury heard that he bought a high-level butchering knife, a crossbow, and bolts, all with the clear intention of carrying out a multi-victim attack.
The devastating crime not only took three innocent lives but left a respected BBC racing commentator grieving the unimaginable loss of his wife and daughters. During the trial, jurors were told that Clifford showed no genuine remorse. He fled the scene, triggering a massive manhunt that ended when he was found injured in a cemetery, having attempted to take his own life with the same crossbow used in the killings.
Despite admitting to the murders, Clifford denies the rape charge. However, prosecutors argue that the evidence shows a premeditated act of extreme violence, motivated by rejection and a twisted desire for control.
