The latest season of Formula 1: Drive to Survive has once again delivered intense behind-the-scenes drama, and this time, it shines a spotlight on Red Bull team principal Christian Horner during one of the most turbulent periods of his career. The documentary captures the exact moment Horner learns about an email containing alleged messages between himself and a female colleague—an incident that sent shockwaves through the F1 world just days before Red Bull’s 2024 season launch.
Horner himself acknowledges the weight of the situation in the Netflix series, saying, “The higher you rise, the sharper the knives. Horner, seen in the paddock checking his phone, described the moment as a “bombshell designed to cause maximum distraction and aggravation.” He was convinced that the ultimate goal of these allegations was to force him out of Red Bull.
Even within the Red Bull camp, tensions were evident. Jos Verstappen, father of reigning champion Max Verstappen, publicly suggested that Horner’s presence was dividing the team.
