Félix Auger-Aliassime Storms into Dubai Final, Eyes Third Title of 2025

Montreal’s very own Félix Auger-Aliassime is making waves on the ATP Tour yet again! The 24-year-old Canadian has battled his way into the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships, setting up a showdown with Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas. After a hard-fought victory over French qualifier Quentin Halys in the semifinals, Auger-Aliassime is now just one win away from claiming his third title of the season.

It wasn’t an easy road to the final. Auger-Aliassime had to dig deep, coming from a set down to defeat Halys 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. The match was intense, with both players pushing each other to the limit. At one point in the first set, Auger-Aliassime even had to save three set points before Halys eventually closed it out. But that didn’t shake the Canadian’s confidence. Staying mentally strong, he turned things around in the second set, seizing a crucial break at just the right moment. And in the deciding set, he was simply dominant—converting four out of seven break points and saving both break points he faced.

Auger-Aliassime’s powerful serve was once again on display, racking up 10 aces compared to Halys’ five. After the match, he admitted it had been a tough battle. “I don’t know how I pulled it through today,” he said. “I’ve only played three-setters this week, and we were both feeling a bit tired. But it was all about positive self-talk and staying in the moment.”

This latest win marks Auger-Aliassime’s 16th victory of 2025—more than any other player on the ATP Tour this season. He’s been on fire, already securing titles in Adelaide and Montpellier. And despite a semifinal loss to Andrey Rublev in Qatar last week, he’s shown remarkable resilience.

Now, all eyes are on the final. Auger-Aliassime will face world No. 11 Tsitsipas, who booked his spot with a straight-sets win over Tallon Griekspoor. The head-to-head record favors the Greek, who leads 6-3 in their past meetings. Their most recent clash came at the 2023 Paris Masters, where Tsitsipas emerged victorious. But Auger-Aliassime has reason to be confident—his first-ever ATP Tour title came against Tsitsipas in the 2022 Rotterdam Open final.

So, will history repeat itself? Or will Auger-Aliassime flip the script and take home his third trophy of 2025? One thing’s for sure—Saturday’s final is set to be a thriller!
