India Gains Momentum with Key Wickets in Champions Trophy Semi-Final
What a match we have on our hands in the first semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025! India and Australia, two of the biggest rivals in cricket, are battling it out in Dubai, and the game is already delivering some unforgettable moments.
Australia, after electing to bat first, managed to put up 264 runs on the board, thanks to crucial contributions from Steve Smith (73 off 96), Alex Carey (61 off 57), and Travis Head (39 off 33). At one stage, Australia looked set to post a bigger total, but India’s bowlers turned the game around with a disciplined effort. Mohammed Shami was outstanding yet again, picking up three wickets for 48 runs, while Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. India’s chase, however, got off to a bit of a shaky start. The biggest blow came when captain Rohit Sharma, who was looking in great touch with 28 runs off 29 balls, was dismissed. He even took a review, but the umpire’s decision stood, and he had to walk back. Shubman Gill also departed early, leaving India at 55/2 at the end of the powerplay. But the good news for Indian fans? Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are at the crease, working to stabilize the innings.
Virat Kohli, known for his ability to anchor a chase, has already played a couple of confident shots, including a classic straight drive for four. Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, got a bit lucky with an outside edge that ran away to the boundary, but India won’t mind that at all! Every run counts in a high-pressure game like this.
