School Bus Cancellations in Southern Ontario – March 24, 2025

Hey everyone, here’s an important update for those in Southern Ontario—especially parents, students, and teachers. If you’re planning for your Monday morning commute, you’ll want to take note because school bus transportation has been significantly impacted today due to weather conditions.

School bus cancellations have been announced for several regions across Southern Ontario for Monday, March 24, 2025. A major spring storm system has created unsafe driving conditions, leading multiple school boards to cancel bus services for the day. While schools remain open for students who can get there safely, buses will not be operating, and parents are reminded that alternative arrangements will be necessary for pickup in the afternoon.

In the Near North and Nipissing-Parry Sound regions, all bus services across all weather corridors have been suspended for the day. This includes students attending English Public and Catholic schools. Similarly, in the Sudbury, Espanola, Massey, and Manitoulin districts, all morning school transportation services for English Catholic, English Public, French Catholic, and French Public schools have been canceled. Renfrew County has also reported multiple cancellations, particularly in Zone 4 Madawaska and other select areas, where delays are also expected.

For French-language schools, both the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario (CSPGNO) and Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord have canceled all bus services today. The same applies to the Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPNE), with transportation being halted across all designated weather corridors.

A detailed map of affected school boards is available, providing updates on cancellations (marked in red) and school closures (in purple). However, it is advised that parents check directly with their respective school boards for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Since weather conditions can change rapidly, refreshing the relevant pages frequently is recommended.

This is yet another reminder of how unpredictable spring weather can be in Ontario. With a significant winter storm risk looming over the province, bringing snow and freezing rain over the next few days, safety remains the top priority. If your child’s bus has been canceled, but their school is still open, be sure to make safe travel arrangements. Remember, buses that are canceled in the morning will not be running in the afternoon either, so plan accordingly.

Stay warm, stay safe, and keep an eye on the latest weather and transportation updates throughout the day!
