Alright, if you’re even remotely into action, video games, or just straight-up badass characters, you need to see the new trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 . Warner Bros. just dropped it, and wow—it is packed. But what’s got fans hyped beyond belief is Karl Urban stepping into the role of Johnny Cage. And let me tell you, he is owning it.

So, the first Mortal Kombat movie back in 2021 already gave us a solid taste of the classic game’s brutal energy. But now, with the sequel hitting theaters on October 24, things are getting cranked up to eleven. Urban—who we all know and love from The Boys —has taken on the role of Johnny Cage, and honestly, he might be perfect for it. He's got that cocky, smirking energy down, but with the kind of seasoned grit only Karl can bring. Johnny Cage isn’t just comic relief here—he’s throwing punches, breaking bones, and soaking in the spotlight, all while rocking those classic sunglasses.
And it’s not just Urban who's making waves. The sequel’s cast is stacked. We’ve got Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, complete with her razor-sharp steel fans; Tati Gabrielle as Jade, wielding that bo staff; and Damon Herriman stepping into the sinister role of Quan Chi. Martyn Ford, looking absolutely massive, plays Shao Kahn, and Ana Thu Nguyen brings Queen Sindel’s deadly elegance to life. The Outworld feels more terrifying and visually stunning than ever.
What’s great too is that many of the original cast are back. Lewis Tan returns as Cole Young, Ludi Lin is back as Liu Kang, Jessica McNamee reprises her role as Sonya Blade, and Mehcad Brooks once again flexes his way through scenes as Jax. Of course, we still get Scorpion and Sub-Zero going head-to-head in classic, bone-chilling (and bone-breaking) fashion. Hiroyuki Sanada and Joe Taslim—just phenomenal as always.
Director Simon McQuoid is also back behind the camera, and from what we’re seeing in this trailer, he's doubling down on what worked in the first film: stylish fight choreography, intense close-ups, loads of fan service, and yep—blood. Lots of it.
Bottom line? If you’re a Mortal Kombat fan, or even if you’re just into high-energy action with a dose of flair, Karl Urban as Johnny Cage is about to become your new favorite thing. The trailer promises a wild ride, and honestly, October 24 can’t come fast enough.
