Luka Doncic’s Triple-Double Sparks Lakers’ Win Over Heat
The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a strong 130–120 victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday night at Crypto.com Arena, and once again, Luka Doncic was at the center of it all. Even on a tough shooting night, Doncic found a way to shine — not with his usual long-range fireworks, but with an all-around masterclass that showed why he’s one of the most complete players in the game.
Doncic managed just one three-pointer out of eleven attempts, but that didn’t stop him from putting up his first triple-double of the season: 29 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds. At one point, he even drained a 40-foot shot — unfortunately on a dead ball — that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Despite the missed threes, Doncic’s impact was felt everywhere on the court.
Austin Reaves also had a mixed night. He struggled with his shot early, hitting only four of his fourteen three-point attempts, but still delivered a big performance with 26 points and 11 assists, turning the ball over just three times. The Lakers, as a team, made up for their stars’ off shooting by sharing the ball beautifully — racking up 33 assists against only 11 turnovers — and shooting 50.5% from the field.

Reaves summed it up perfectly after the game, saying, “We did a lot of really good things, and it could’ve been even better if me and Luka would’ve made a shot. But the supporting cast played really well.”
One of those key contributors was Jake LaRavia, who came off the bench and continued his impressive streak. The 24-year-old forward dropped 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds, making it his third straight game in double figures. Over the past three games, he’s averaged nearly 22 points — a breakout stretch that’s turning heads.
Meanwhile, Jaxson Hayes made his presence felt in his first start of the year. Filling in for Deandre Ayton, who sat out with back spasms, Hayes scored 15 points on perfect shooting and pulled down five rebounds. One of his highlights was a thunderous one-handed dunk off a Doncic assist that had him celebrating so hard he head-butted the basket padding in excitement.
The Heat did mount a late push, led by former UCLA star Jaime Jaquez Jr., who brought the crowd to its feet with a powerful putback dunk early in the fourth quarter that cut the Lakers’ lead to just two. But Reaves quickly steadied things — hitting a clutch fadeaway jumper and later connecting with LaRavia for an alley-oop that sealed the deal.
Despite Doncic’s off night from deep, his leadership and all-around play powered the Lakers to their third straight win, improving their record to 5–2. As Doncic himself said after the game, “We get a win — it doesn’t matter how many I scored.”
And with that mindset, the Lakers look like a team finding its rhythm — one that can win even when its biggest stars aren’t at their sharpest.
