Newcastle Airport Expands Flights to Bali and Launches Singapore Connection
Exciting news is coming out of Newcastle Airport, and it’s great news for travellers in the Hunter region. Jetstar has announced that it will add a fourth weekly flight from Newcastle to Bali, marking a significant boost for the airport’s first permanent international route. This additional flight, scheduled to start from March next year, will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, adding an impressive 24,000 more seats from the region to the Indonesian island each year.
What makes this announcement even more interesting is that Jetstar will also allow passengers to continue their journey from Bali to Singapore on the same aircraft, after a quick 90-minute stopover. This means that Newcastle residents can now reach Singapore without the hassle of a connecting flight through Sydney, opening the door to a range of destinations across Asia and beyond.

Newcastle Airport’s chief executive, Linc Horton, expressed enthusiasm about this “one-stop, same-plane connection,” highlighting how it enhances flexibility for travellers and underscores Jetstar’s confidence in the region. He explained that the new service not only provides more low-fare options but also saves time for passengers who would otherwise need to travel to Sydney to access international flights.
Jetstar’s head of network, fleet strategy, and planning, Ted Knight, also shared that the Newcastle-Bali route has seen incredible demand since its launch. The addition of the fourth weekly flight is a response to this growing interest and allows locals to explore Singapore and beyond with ease. Knight emphasized that with less than two hours between flights, passengers can leave Newcastle in the morning and be enjoying dinner in Singapore by evening—a truly convenient international travel option.
Local leaders have welcomed the move, noting its potential to boost the Hunter region’s tourism economy. Minister for Jobs and Tourism, Steve Kamper, highlighted that this is Newcastle’s first international route outside Australasia and is expected to bring more visitors to both Newcastle and the wider Hunter area. Port Stephens MP Kate Washington also praised the increased flight frequency, pointing out that the NSW government’s investment in Newcastle Airport is clearly paying off.
To celebrate the expansion, Jetstar has launched an “Un-Bali-vable Sale,” offering four-night Bali packages from Newcastle starting at just $598 per person, twin share.
