A Freezing Morning Awaits as Snow and Cold Weather Sweep Across Korea
Tomorrow, a significant shift in weather patterns will hit South Korea. After the mild temperatures of today, the country will experience a sudden drop, with temperatures dipping below zero across much of the nation. In particular, the capital, Seoul, will start the day with a chilling -2°C, making it feel much colder than usual for this time of year.
The weather system bringing this cold snap also includes snow warnings for the mountainous regions of Gangwon Province. A heavy snowfall advisory has been issued for areas like the Gangwon Mountains, where between 1 to 5 cm of snow is expected through early morning. This will likely make for slippery conditions on the roads during tomorrow's commute, so drivers should remain cautious.

In addition to the snow in the mountains, the eastern coastal areas of the country will experience rain, with up to 10mm expected in some parts before dawn. Cities like Busan and Ulsan will remain dry, however, with the continued threat of very low humidity making the air feel harsh.
The rest of the country will experience a drop in temperatures compared to today. In Seoul, the morning chill will be more intense, as it falls to -2°C, and in Daejeon, it will reach -3°C. By the afternoon, temperatures will only rise slightly, with highs expected to be around 5°C in Seoul and 9°C in Daegu, which is 2 to 3 degrees lower than today's highs. The cold conditions will persist well into the week, with even colder temperatures forecast for Friday and Saturday, with some areas potentially experiencing a frigid -4°C over the weekend.
For those living in the western regions and Jeju Island, strong winds are expected to sweep across the coastal areas, especially in the afternoon, making the cold feel even more biting. The air quality will also be affected in parts of the Gyeonggi region and Chungcheongbuk-do in the morning, so people who are sensitive to pollution should take precautions.
In short, tomorrow marks the beginning of a significant cold spell that will affect much of the country. The early snowfall and sharp temperature drops are just a sign of the harsher weather conditions to come. If you are planning to head out, make sure to dress warmly and prepare for slippery conditions, particularly in the mountains and on the roads.
