Vegas Golden Knights Sign Kai Uchacz to Entry-Level Contract
Big news coming out of Vegas—Kai Uchacz has officially signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights! This is a big step for the 21-year-old forward, who’s been making a name for himself in the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights this season.
Uchacz, originally from Calgary, Alberta, has put up a solid performance in his rookie AHL campaign, notching 12 goals and 11 assists in 51 games so far. Before turning pro, he was a standout in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels, where he served as team captain and racked up back-to-back 80-point seasons. His final year saw him score an impressive 42 goals and 39 assists in 68 games—numbers that certainly caught the attention of NHL scouts.

What’s interesting about Uchacz’s journey is that he went undrafted at the NHL level. Of course, Uchacz’s past has had some controversy. Back in 2020, while with the Seattle Thunderbirds, he was removed from the team due to racially insensitive comments toward a teammate. After undergoing training and education, he was reinstated in the WHL and worked to rebuild his career with Red Deer. His performance on the ice since then has been undeniable, and Vegas is giving him the opportunity to take the next step in his professional hockey journey.
Looking ahead, Uchacz will continue playing with the Silver Knights this season, but this contract means he’s now officially in the mix for a future role with the Golden Knights. Whether he gets called up to the NHL this season or has to continue proving himself in the AHL, his hard work has certainly paid off.
