The Great British Sewing Bee 2025 is Here – Meet the Remarkable Cast

The nation’s most beloved sewing competition is back, and The Great British Sewing Bee 2025 is already making waves! With 12 talented contestants, unforgettable garments, and plenty of drama under the sewing machine, this new season promises to be a creative journey like no other. Sara Pascoe returns to host, while judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant are ready to put the contestants through their paces once again. Week by week, their skills will be tested through pattern challenges, transformation tasks, and breathtaking made-to-measure garments.

In the very first episode, the theme focused on shape – and the sewers were asked to show off their design instincts by tackling a tie-front blouse, creatively transforming circle skirts, and finally mastering the pleated dress in the Made-to-Measure challenge. Inverness student Órla Ní Eadhra was a standout. At just 20 years old, she wowed the judges with a geometric 3D pleated gown that was inspired by the door of her childhood bedroom. Patrick Grant was blown away, calling it one of the most technically complex patterns he’d ever seen. Although she struggled to finish her transformation challenge on time, Órla's ingenuity and passion were undeniable.

And that’s just one story among this incredible cast. There’s Caz from Staffordshire, recently retired and finally giving all her energy to the technical sewing she adores. Kit from Manchester brings a rebellious spirit, turning “awful” fabrics into masterpieces. Gaynor, a 72-year-old from Wales, is the classic seamstress with an eye for timeless elegance. Jess from London uses her sewing to reconnect with her family roots, and Novello, who’s been stitching since she was five, sees fashion as an expressive art form.

Then there’s Peter, the practical-minded construction manager who learned sewing alongside his mum. Dan, the performer from Durham, merges his passion for stage and stitching with show-stopping results. Glendora has sewn everything from dresses to quilts and brings decades of experience, while Yasmin honors her late father through every piece she creates. Saffie designs with functionality and flair, and Stuart – who only started sewing in 2020 – shows how quickly dedication can lead to real skill.

The heart of this show is not just fashion – it’s personal stories, creativity, and connection. Behind every stitch is a memory, a challenge overcome, or a dream taking shape. Even the mishaps – like a hot iron gone wrong or a missing sleeve – are part of what makes Sewing Bee so charming and real.

This season kicked off with a surprise: no one was eliminated in the first week due to a contestant falling ill and missing key parts of the competition. But with the pressure doubled for week two, tensions will certainly rise. Two will leave next week, raising the stakes for everyone.

So whether you’re a diehard sewing fan or just love good-hearted competition, The Great British Sewing Bee 2025 is a must-watch. From recycled fashion to emotional tributes and jaw-dropping gowns, this cast is already stitching their way into the nation’s hearts – one pleat, seam, and hem at a time.
